Starting as an underground graffiti artist illegally tagging shop shutters in east London, Ben Eine has now come out on top – literally and figuratively. Eine’s alphabet lettering graffiti provides the otherwise lifeless shutters of Brick Lane and Shoreditch areas with a breath of fresh… color. And now these like-style tags can be found covering the walls of Louis Vuitton’s new pop-up space located on the Ground Floor at Selfridges.
Although Eine and the infamous yet illusive Bansky had formed some sort of partnership (street artnership – if you will) it wasn’t until David Cameron gifted a piece of Eine’s work entitled, ‘Twenty First Century City,’ to Barack Obama in 2010 that he received any credible exposure.
Anticipated to follow in the footsteps of Stephen Sprouse, Eine is about to embark on ‘Great Adventures’ with the French luxury brand. ‘Great Adventures’ being one of Eine’s favorite phrases, he has managed to paint it in Beijing, Osaka, Copenhagen, Dallas and San Francisco – and now on a Louis Vuitton scarf that was sold exclusively at Selfridges up until this morning. Now the sure-to-be-sold-out scarf is available worldwide at Louis Vuitton stores and concessions, priced at £465.
