I was very excited to take hold of the MAC limited edition Lunar New Year palette and lipstick. It was all pinky and spring-like. The colours of possibility, the thought of spring flowers. It also arrived at the same time as an eye infection so it took me a while to welcome the new possibilities, but there’s nothing like reaching for spring when there’s snow outside.

For a start, how much have I missed a MAC lipstick? There’s something extra sensuous about MACs texture. Just enough waxy, just enough strong and this pretty pink actually has great staying power. It’s one of those shades that flatters everybody. It’s more pink than nude, more Bardot than Baby. The eye palette can also be used as a cheek palette because there are wonderful pinky mauvy shades. There’s a lovely flesh coloured one and gorgeous highlighters and a dusky purplish shade that blends exquisitely and goes with everything.
MAC must have chased the formula of their colours recently because these ones not only look soft but they feel soft and super blendy. And caress the eyes lightly which is exactly what I was looking for. A nude smoky eye palette is available exclusively at Selfridges, but it’s a must-have.
