So much has been written about Nelson Mandela, and so much is still yet to be written. Likewise films and television programmes have come and gone, and more are yet to be made. It was eerily timely that last night, the death of the iconic figure in world history came whilst his daughters were attending the premiere of one of the most anticipated films of the year, Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom. Zindzi and Zenani were told shortly before the film was due to start that their father was fading. Minutes before they had been presented to Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge, and answering interview questions on the red carpet about Nelson Mandela.
Anant Singh took to the stage after the credits had rolled to announce the news to the audience. There was a collective intake of breath and a hush descended on the room. A two minute silence was held there and then, in tribute to Nelson Mandela and the legacy he leaves behind.
