The new music video for Selena Gomez’s single, “Come and Get It,” was released this week.
Gomez steps out of her shell as a Disney star and into a confident young pop singer that is releasing a new sound to distinguish her as a force to be reckoned with. Wearing a red dress and variety of other black ensembles, Selena proves in the video that she is driving her career in a new and more mature direction.
The video was directed by Anthony Mandler, the very same that has directed other leading ladies like Rihanna’s “Diamonds” and Taylor Swift’s “I Knew You Were Trouble.” In “Come and Get It,” the video is shot in huge floral landscapes, fiery deserts, and even an underwater scene. Selena’s red dress from her MTV Movie Awards performance in April makes a comeback as well.
This is Selena’s first venture as a solo artist in music. She previously released an album in 2011 titled “When the Sun Goes Down,” with her band, Selena Gomez & the Scene. Earlier this year she starred in “Spring Breakers” alongside fellow former Disney star, Vanessa Hudgens.
