NEW SS14 LIP LAUNCHES: A REVIEW

I have been very impressed with the organic brand RMS. They do some lovely eye colours, creamy, long lasting with both smokey and vibrant shades in the collection. I like to use them as an eye shadow base.

I have now tried their RMS Lip2Cheek (£28.00) and I am rather obsessed with the colour called Demure because it is just that. It is a shade of lip that is like a dusty rose, it belongs on a 1930s postcard.

I like its antiquey-ness. More than that, I love how the formula is so hydrating and the colour so perfectly honed. It looks all at once like a lipstick and strangely natural flush.

The very notion of Lip2Cheek means you can also use this colour as a blusher. I love the idea of a cream blusher. I hate anything powdery – that just makes your skin look too dusty and dry.

For me this rose shade is too mauve for a cheek colour and I just don’t get along with the idea that your lips should match your cheeks that seems alien to me.

They have another more sheer peachy colour that feels a little 1950s, it is called Smile and I think it is the nicest blush shade, but it is too coral-esque for my lips. If anyone is feeling brave enough, Beloved is a big, bright poppy red, it is a great lip colour and if you want really rosy cheeks and you like that kind of statement, go for it. It probably works the best as a dual action shade. They cost £28.00 . Organic is not cheap!

Pink was supposed to be the colour for this summer and, as I found, not everybody can wear a pure baby pink well. I tried the bareMinerals Marvellous Moxie Lip Gloss in Survivor (£16.00). It is a very pinky pink, it is a statement colour and I love the texture of the Moxie range. It is plumping and juicy. Proceeds from the limited edition Marvellous Moxie in Survivor go towards the Look Good Feel Better campaign.

Look Good Feel Better is an inspirational charity that helps women combat the visible, horrible side effects of cancer. £5.00 for every lip gloss purchased is donated to this amazing charity. I love that it is called Survivor and I love what it does, but if I am honest, the pure pinkness is just too pink for my skin tone.

Bobbi Brown Lipstick in Lady Ruba (£19.50).

The saviour of my summer lips has come by chance. I had lost the pencil sharpeners for Bobbi Brown`s super wide lip pencil. I loved its chunky vibrancy but after I had spent several hours trying to hunt down its special sharpeners I got very sad. I was so placated when I saw Bobbi Brown had a new collection called Crazy For Colour with 30 new lip shades.

I love that this range is so inclusive, there’s something for everyone. Their campaign images are delicious, Kate Upton wearing the new vintage red lip colour. Apparently it has sold out almost everywhere.

I chose the Bobbi Brown Crazy For Colour Lipstick in Lady Ruba (£19.50). It is not a shade I normally go for. It is brighter, more vermillion than vintage red, more orange but still a gorgeous summer hue. A sexy red. The pigment is super strong and the lipstick is gloriously textured, moisturizing, dewy but stays put. It is my current lip hero.
