What exactly is going on in this trailer for The One I Love? On the surface, is appears to be a romantic comedy – Mad Men‘s Elisabeth Moss and Mark Duplass star as a couple whose marriage is in need of some repair. Their therapist (Ted Danson) recommends they take a retreat to save their relationship, and sends the two off to a vacation home where every couple who’s gone before returns “renewed.”
But that’s as straightforward as it gets, as the story takes a surreal twist. There’s talk of an alternate dimension, and it seems the house holds more than just the secret to repairing troubled relationships. The trailer for the film promises “an intriguing premise that we can’t really discuss here,” and its Sundance premiere garnered positive reviews, so we can’t wait to see what secrets The One I Love is hiding.
