Maleficent Movie Poster
Maleficent is the hotly anticipated Disney production on 2014 and is set for release at the end of May. The film is directed by Robert Stromberg and will star Angelina Jolie as the renowned villain.
The plot tells the story of Sleeping Beauty from the perspective of Maleficent, delving back into her life as a young girl to begin the story. The film takes a similar angle to that of the highly acclaimed musical Wicked that told the story of the Wizard of Oz’s Wicked Witch of the West and sought to turn the traditional villain into an anti-hero.
Sleeping Beauty herself is played by the up and coming Elle Fanning, with others such as Juno Temple, Imelda Staunton, and Sam Riley as well as Angelina’s very own daughter Vivienne Jolie-Pitt taking up her first ever movie role as the toddler Princess Aurora. The brand new Maleficent featurette has been released. Take a look below.
It is sure to be one not to miss, and will definitely require an indulgent viewing of the classic Sleeping Beauty afterwards. Here’s the first teaser trailer we got to see just after Christmas.
