If you’re after something a bit different in the movie stakes this month, then pop along to see Downhill, the wonderfully British feature debut of director James Rouse. It follows four old school friends (and by old, we mean around mid-life crisis age, rediscovering youth, that sort of thing) who come together after more than 20 years. Gordon (Richard Lumsden) and best friend Keith (Karl Theobald) set out to complete the Wainwright Coast to Coast Walk from Cumbria to North Yorkshire along with Steve (Jeremy Swift), and Julian (Ned Dennehy) and Gordon’s film student son Keith who films the mini adventure for our viewing pleasure. It’s set in beautiful countryside and has a great soundtrack too, don’t let this little gem escape your radar.
Downhill is in cinemas now and available on Blu-ray, DVD on June 16th.
