If you’re a dedicated and avid fan of rom-coms, but tired of the same old “boy meets girl” plot line, Reese Witherspoon’s new movie is your must-see this year. Home Again is a refreshing new take on the romantic comedy with a quirky, modern twist that is bound to have your heart invested at every step of the way.
The Legally Blonde actress stars as Alice Kinney, a newly separated parent that moves back home to Los Angeles in an attempt to kickstart her struggling design career amidst the duties of motherhood. The trailer opens on Alice’s 40th birthday, where she meets three significantly younger, charismatic film-makers (Nat Wolff, Pico Alexander and Jon Rudnitsky) who she instantly forms a connection with.
It unfolds that the boys are desperately trying to make it in Hollywood, so Alice’s mother (Candice Bergen) encourages her to offer them her home as a place to stay. In the trailer, surprising love connections are formed as Alice locks lips, and we catch a glimpse of the ex-husband returning (Michael Sheen) to make complications arise. The story embarks on a journey of love, friendship and discovery as an unlikely family dynamic forms, and Alice learns that starting over is not for beginners.
Home Again is written and directed by Hallie Meyers-Shyer, the daughter of acclaimed producer Nancy Meyers (The Intern, The Holiday, It’s Complicated). It’s set to be released in UK cinemas in September, and we can’t wait. Watch the trailer below.
