Director Terrence Malick is famed for is improvisational ways, and his latest release Knight of Cups was reportedly no exception. When it began filming back in 2012 the narrative was incomplete, and due to take its course as the actors and actresses began work.
Christian Bale stars as Rick, a comedy screenwriter in the middle of a soul-searching session, alongside the likes of Natalie Portman, Cate Blanchett, and Antonio Banderas. A lot of it, the un-debauched parts, take place on a beach. These scenes tend to involve Christian Bale, an endearingly crumpled Armani suit, and one of the A-list women that make up the cast list. So it’s worth going to see just for that really.
The trailer makes the film look hard-hitting and edgy, with some heart-wrenching relationship storylines woven in for good measure. Take a look for yourself below.
