Ruth Negga, the beautiful Irish-Somalian actress, graces the latest cover of American Vogue. Her first stint with Vogue comes after the outstanding success of her lead role in the true film, Loving, in UK theaters now.
Loving takes place in the 1950’s South, where Negga plays Mildred Loving, alongside co-star Joel Edgerton, as an inter-racial couple. The two face challenges over the legality of their marriage, that lead to the U.S. Supreme Court (Loving v. Virginia), eventually striking down three laws about interracial marriage. Loving has gotten amazing reviews, and is expected to be big at this year’s Oscar Awards. We definitley need to see this!
Before this film, Negga had caught a few breaks starring in TV series, “Love/Hate,” “Breakfast on Pluto,” and “Misfits,” as well as having a history in theatre.
Negga’s cover of Vogue is drop dead gorgeous, wearing a rose-covered Alexander Wang blouse and a Rodarte ear cuff. On the subject of the film Loving, she says that this job was unlike any other she’s had. Negga adds, “There’s often a job that’s a ‘before and after’ for an actor. This is that kind of job for me.” Negga wows in a spread in the magazine alongside Loving co-star, Joel Edgerton.
We can’t wait to see what Negga stars in next, our bet is she’s only going up from here!
