One of the 20th century’s most prolific fashion photographers will be the focus of a new exhibit at the Victoria and Albert Museum this atumn. The work of Horst P. Horst, the German-American photographer known for his striking portraits and richly-detailed fashion shots, will be celebrated in “Horst: Photographer of Style,” which will show at the V&A from September 6, 2014 to January 4, 2015.
Horst’s work appeared most prominently in the British, American and French versions of Vogue, although his photographs were also showcased in several books dedicated to his sixty year career. He is renowned for his use of light and pioneering work with color in the early 1930s, as well as his surrealist works highlighting the female body. Some of Horst’s most notable portrait subjects include Andy Warhol, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Bette Davis and Oscar de la Renta.

Admission to Horst: Photographer of Style at the V&A runs £6 for students, £7 for senior citizens and £9 for the full adult ticket price plus donation. Family packages can be purchased for £14 for one adult and two children ages 12-17, or £22 for two adults and two children. The exhibit includes many gorgeous vintage prints from Vogue’s archives, so fashion fanatics should be sure to check this one out!
