She’s been in over 50 movies, has won dozens of awards, and is regarded as one of the most beautiful people in the world. If you aren’t familiar with her it is because all of this has been done outside of the mainstream media, as Priyanka Chopra has, until recently, only been on the Bollywood scene. However, all of this is changing as we are about to hear a whole lot more about Chopra’s talent.
Here are some things to know about the woman herself:
1. She was born and raised in India, but because her father worked in the military she moved from city to city throughout her childhood.
2. In 2000, at the age of 18 she won the Miss World title which helped propel her film career.
3. She was featured in her first film, Thamizhan in 2002 and since then has become one of the most talented and widely celebrated actresses in Bollywood, receiving over 90 awards.
4. Chopra has also dabbled in the music world and has released 3 singles, two of which featured will.i.am and Pitbull.
5. Often dubbed one of the most beautiful women in the world, she keeps her routines simple by doing cardio four times a week and swimming. As for her flawless skin she does not do anything too radical, just religiously washes her face each night and moisturizes.
6. As of this past year she has she has successfully made the difficult transition from Bollywood actress to Hollywood star. Very few have been able to break out of the “Bollywood stereotype.”
7. She now stars in television series Quantico which has already been renewed for a second series
8. She is proud to represent a typically underrepresented group in mainstream media. Not many Indian women are featured in main roles in television- prompting fellow television star Mindy Kaling to joke on her Instagram that the two are “cousins” (A joke Mindy often makes because of constant questions as to whether her and other Indian actors are related, when they clearly look very different).
9. She’s recently been picked for Time magazine 100 Most Influential People
10. Her first Hollywood film will premiere in 2017. The Baywatch remake will also star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Zac Efron.
