Queen Elizabeth sat next to Anna Wintour at Richard Quinn’s show on Tuesday night. Front Row GOALS, am I right? After the show, she awarded the designer with the first Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design. As she presented the award, she praised the British Fashion industry’s ability to “produce world-class textiles and cutting-edge, practical designs.”
Quinn only found out about the Queen’s attendance a few days beforehand, but that didn’t stop him from giving several nods to her own sense of fashion in the show. He added in extra headscarves with patterns to represent the Monarch’s own style.
The award will continue being presented by member’s of the royal family for years to come to new young talent in the industry, but only Richard Quinn will be able to say his show was the first to be attended by the Queen herself.
