My hair takes a beating— it’s colored, styled with heat, washed far too frequently. Since the weather has gotten colder, my hair has felt dry and I’ve noticed breakage, particularly on the ends. I was excited to test out the Aveda Damage Remedy Split End Repair.
The most well-known way to up your hair’s health was to give it a quick snip, but I can’t bear the thought of cutting my hair. Damage Remedy Split End Repair works to bind split ends back together whilst working to prevent new ones from forming.
The magic ingredient is Nangai Oil, sourced from trees on the tropical island of Malekula in the South Pacific that helps bind ends together and condition the strands. The product claims to protect and repair damage from the four major causes, environmental, chemical, heat, and physical, from all of which my hair is damaged.
The thing that seemed the oddest to me was that the bottled instructed me to apply to dry hair, after styling as desired. After use, I definitely felt less split ends, as if they were literally glued together. My only complaint was that my hair felt a bit heavy and greasy at the ends. The product actually keeps working until your next wash, so I ended up pulling my hair in a ponytail for an extra day to see how it felt on day 2. After my next wash noticed the ends felt a lot more hydrated and my split ends were less visible. An added bonus: I’ve always loved the soothing herbal scent of Aveda products, and this one did not disappoint.
