ROLAND MOURET RETURNS TO LONDON

February 20, 2017

We had mentioned before that designer Roland Mouret was returning to London Fashion Week after showing his collections in Paris for the last decade, and he did not disappoint. This year marked Mouret’s 20th year as a designer, and even though he’s originally from France, he describes London as his “creative home.”

Legendary hair stylist Sam McKnight incorporated the show’s “Look of Love” theme into the model’s hair looks by giving them what he calls, a “post passion look.” We went backstage on Sunday to watch Sam work on the model’s hair using the Batiste range to give the girls texture, but keeping with their own natural hair styles, nothing structured or too over done.

“It’s minimal and super-clean kinda bedhead hair,” explained McKnight. “as if sweat’s been air-dried to create light texture and movement.” We love how this looks is perfectly tussled without looking unwearable in the real world. The brief from Roland was to keep the hair natural in contrast with the clothes that were the opposite. Beauty and nails were also kept very minimal, Marian Newman told us that the girls could pick what colour they wanted their nails from the Christian Louboutin nail colours, so the girls all looked like they had their own identity.

Sam McKnight talked us through how he used Batiste to create that natural, sexy hair look;

1. Start with Batiste Original Dry Shampoo to soak up any oil and to create the freshly-washed look.

2. Create texture with Stylist Collection by Batiste Hold Me Hairspray. This spray helps shield your hair from humidity, while adding shine. McKnight used a curling iron on models that had really straight hair, which he also prepped with Stylist Collection by Batiste Heat & Shine Spray to make sure your hair is protected from the damaging heat.

3. To get the air-dried, still wet-look, use Stylist Collection by Batiste Hydrate Me Oil Mist. This mist locks in moisture and smooths stressed locks by reducing damage from everyday styling.

4. Finish by lightly tousling hair with fingers to make the look as natural as possible.

All Batiste products that were used are available at Boots nationwide and at batistehair.co.uk.
