Scoff and Banter is a traditional British restaurant serving up the very best of our heritage; sourcing the finest quality products across the UK. There are six Scoff & Banter restaurants, located in some of London’s most alluring spots; Bloomsbury, Canary Wharf, Covent Garden, Kensington, Leicester Square and Oxford Street.

As Wimbledon fever takes over London, Scoff and Banter in Kensington are hosting their exclusive ‘Singles or Doubles’ menu – and we went along to pay them a visit, and indulge in what sounded like a most delicious menu on offer. As we approached the charming listed building, it was warm and welcoming – and truly in keeping with the history, with it’s intricately detailed high ceilings and grand bay windows.

The Wimbledon menu allows guests to play ‘Singles or Doubles’ by choosing singles for a standard full sized dish on the menu; or play doubles, the chance to savour two half-sized dishes from the Doubles menu. The choices were scrumptious, including some of the country’s favourite dishes including por-roast chicken, beer battered haddock and steak and ale pie.

So after much deliberation – we ended up ordering the haddock; which came served with hand-cut chips and tartare sauce, and the slow-cooked beef and ale pie; cosy with caramelised shallot mash, mushy peas and gravy. For the luxurious quality of the food their menu is very well-priced. Not to mention the lovingly-prepared homely meals; the service was warm and welcoming, and you just feel right at home.

After our fulfilling and hearty meal, we were brilliantly full, but just couldn’t resist finishing up with The Murray Mound, with fresh summer strawberries with vanilla whipped cream, and summer fruit purée (there’s always room for dessert, right?). Well it was so worth it; and a generous portion too, it was incredibly refreshing to finish our meal off with. Perfect to share.

Also, an added bonus for those of you that didn’t get tickets to see Wimbledon – The Murray Mound pays true homage to the tennis star and will be free to everyone ordering a main course on the days that Andy Murray is playing, no matter the result.

Neil Armstrong, Edwardian Group London’s Group Executive Chef says “We wanted to show our support for Andy Murray and boost morale in time for one of the country’s favourite sporting events. Our ‘Singles and Doubles’ menu and dessert giveaway is sure to put a smile on the public’s face and get them in the mood to cheer Andy on.”

I will definitely be paying Scoff & Banter another visit, and taking my friends with me – their food is just too irresistible.
