When I come to the end of a mascara that I love I find it really hard to throw it away. I’ve appreciated it, I respect it. So many mascaras are rubbish – too clumpy, too drying and just don’t stay on at all. I’ve been loving my They’re Real from Benefit but it was kind of sad watching me scraping the last embers and just not giving up on it…
When you find something you love, you don’t want to let it go – but somehow replacing it for the fourth time felt also a chore and not so thrilling and not such a loveable experience. So I thought I would try the thrill and the risk of trying something new. I’d heard such good things about Fairy Drops waterproof mascara and it comes in such a beautiful, inviting package. The tube itself is mirrored rose gold with drawings of crystal chandeliers – the way my eyelashes are about to shimmer.

First of all, the wand itself looks like a poodle clipped for Crufts in several tiny pompoms ensuring that not a single lash escapes its curly coating and conditioning. Yes, conditioning. It’s going to make my eyelashes glossy and the thing is it does.
The poodle pompom makes sure every single lash is lifted, separated, lengthened and slightly curled. It’s not clumpy but juicy, it has great staying power and it doesn’t smudge. It’s enriched with five different treatment essences including jojoba seed oil and hydrolysed collagen and moisturising hyaluronic acid to leave lashes looking like little they have been dipped in chandelier crystals. It leaves you looking like a doll.
