NIOD is the clever skincare band that the beauty world love for their high-tech products. NIOD strive on combining humble formulas with their scientific approach to create their innovative and effective range.
Since being introduced to the brand a while back I have formed a bit of an adoration for NIOD. There are two new products on the NIOD shelves that I have recently started to incorporate into my regime that have made vast improvements on my skin, leaving me clearer, smoother and clarified… and I simply have to rave about them.
Sanskrit Saponins Cleanser
First, the Sanskrit Saponins Cleanser. You might be thinking, what is this Sanskrit Sap- and how do I even pronounce it?
Sanskrit Saponins is a viscous and intense cleaning balm for the face, formulated with highly-concentrated and unrefined Ayurvedic plant surfactants, which are unsupported by any modern cleaning technology. ‘SS’ is designed to target all forms of build-up, blemishes, congestion and impurities. It is great for all skin types, too. Perfect.
It is a creamy texture and has a golden tint. It almost looks like it has pearly irridescence to it which is very lovely in my opinion, squeezing it out to clean your face with feels quite special. Now, the scent – I can only describe it as earthy, planty, yet sweet. It reminds me of henna, and if you like that kind of thing, you’ll absolutely love the smell of this cleanser.
There are 2 ways to use it – as a traditional face cleanser or as a bit more of a mask. Simply massage a generous amount of SS into your palms until a mild paste-lather forms. Avoid your eyes, and apply to entire face and either rinse off or leave on for 5 minutes for best results. SS is best used every other day as a bit of a treatment, rather than daily.
It cleans the skin, but is not designed to remove makeup, so your double cleansing is essential – but you’ll even find from first use your skin will instantly appear more pore-free, feel crazily clean and look brighter. I love it.

Non-acid precursor 15%
Up next, is the Non-Acid Precursor 15%. Again, a product that had me looking closely at the box to work out what this little bottle actually does…
‘NAAP’ is a non-acidic alternative to acid-based epidermal resurfacing for the face. In other words, rather than using direct or harsh acids (for example AHA/BHA that are common in skincare) NIOD have provided us with an alternative. Using fermentation bio-derivatives and amino isolates, encourages visible radiance and surface regularity without the redness or inflammation that you get using acids.
I started to use this product, as my skin was starting to look less smooth, presumably a bit of pore clogging and build up here and there. I needed the help. Along with the cleanser, this brilliant addition to the NIOD skincare family has really helped to smooth out my skin again, and it looks clear. You don’t feel like you’re over-doing it which is what I like, as it is a non-acid product and gentle on the skin, but it is effective. Hurrah!
Simply apply a few drops at bedtime to the face avoiding your immediate eye area. This can be used nightly, but if sensitivity occurs, reduce application initially to every other night until your skin builds tolerance.
