After The Handmaid’s Tale success at the Globes earlier this month, taking home three awards, the much-loved series has returned with a first look trailer for Season 2.
The story is based on Margaret Atwood’s best-selling novel of the same name, and the series is set in Gilead. It’s a totalitarian society, which used to be part of the US. Gilead however, is ruled by a fundamentalist regime that treats women as property of the state. Struggling to keep up with plummeting birth rates and environmental disasters, they try to repopulate. There are only a few remaining fertile women, forced into sexual servitude. Offred is one of these women. She is strong and determined to survive the terrifying world she’s forced to live in and find her daughter that was taken from her.
