I’m a little bit of a Marvel comic film nut. I blame my brother. I was reluctant at first, but he made me watch Iron Man, and you can’t help but be charmed by the egotistical character that Robert Downey Jnr portrays. Then there was Captain America, Chris Evans as a wartime hero? I never stood a chance did I really? I fell head over heels along with Hayley Atwell’s Peggy Carter character. So, although I didn’t want to admit it, I was already rather won over by the Marvel movies. And then came Thor. I was powerless to resist. First we have Chris Hemsworth, whose clean and lean ways have obviously been working out for him. I have yet to watch one of his movie’s without a guy near me piping up ‘I wonder how much he’s benching…’. There’s Natalie Portman, an actress I find myself identifying with in every film she features in, whether she is crying at Jean Reno’s front door in Léon or pirouetting manically across the stage in Black Swan. And then there’s the script. However dramatic or intense the scenes get, the scriptwriters always seem to find a moment to make us giggle.
So by the time the new Thor: The Dark World film was announced for release UK on 30th October, I was well past the point of trying to hide my excitement. In the latest Thor instalment, he battles to save earth and the nine realms from the shadowy enemy. An ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to take the universe back into darkness, it gets tense.
This time round there’s even a bit more of a Brit flavour to enjoy. Our beloved Chris O’Dowd ups the UK population on the cast list, alongside Tom Hiddleston, and the most recent stills from the new film show him opposite Natalie Portman, enjoying dinner in the iconic OXO Tower as her love interest Richard.
If you just can’t wait those three short weeks until its release, we have the latest featurette below to whet your appetite. Oh you’re welcome!
