The official opening of the David Bowie Is retrospective at London’s V&A is just one day away. And as anticipation rises, rumours surrounding Wednesday night’s opening party are also out in full force.
Somewhat surprisingly, it is thought that the man himself will be absent from the celebrations, replaced instead by a cross-dressing Tilda Swinton who will be donning her best Ziggy Stardust get up to impersonate the star. The pop icon has recently appeared to shy away from the media spotlight (it was thought he turned down the Olympics Closing Ceremony, despite there being a whole segment dedicated to his song, Fashion).
Whilst Swinton, who features in Bowie’s latest video for ‘The Stars (Are Out Tonight), is rumoured to be playing something of a vital role in the proceedings, there are no clues as to what she will be wearing or how she’ll be made up. Although we’re hoping there will be multiple outfit changes. .
But not to worry because it is expected to be a opening night packed full of celebrity guests including supermodel Kate Moss and hubbie Jamie Hince, artists Tracey Emin, fashion designers Christopher Kane and Erdem Moraglioglu.
We’re almost as excited about the opening party as the actual exhibition, almost.
