Will Ferrell stars in comedy Casa De Mi Padre (My Fathers House) due out in UK cinemas this weekend, 9th June. This latino soap opera-style film parodies the soap operas you would see on Latino network Univision, complete with cheesey closeups, pretty girls and even a shot of Ferrell’s bum, now that you wouldn’t see on Univision. And it’s in Spanish, with subtitles to help you along.
Ferrell plays Armando Alvarez, who has lived on his father’s ranch in Mexico his whole life. As the ranch faces financial troubles, Armando’s younger brother Raul played by Diego Luna (Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, Y Tu Mamá También) brings home his new fiance Sonia played by Genesis Rodriguez (Man on a Ledge, What To Expect When You’re Expecting) Raul’s financial success seems to mean that the ranch’s financial troubles are over as he promises to settle all his fathers debts. But chaos ensues when Armando falls for Sonia and Raul’s business dealings turn out to be less than legitimate. They find theselves at war with Mexico’s most feared drug lords the Onza played by Gael Garcia Bernal (Y Tu Mamá También, Amores Perros).
