Downton Abbey creator, Julian Fellowes, has written a new adaptation of Shakespeare’s tragic love story, Romeo and Juliet. Hailee Steinfeld and Douglas Booth are set to play the leads and an all-star cast is also lined up. Ed Westwick will play Tybalt, Paul Giamatti as the friar, and Stellan Skarsgard as the Prince. From the trailer, this seems to be a more traditional adaptation than Baz Luhrman’s 1996 Romeo + Juliet starring Leonardo Dicaprio and Claire Danes. Julian Fellowes appears to have written a screenplay that will be consistent with the traditional costumes and setting of a period piece.
