Nothing beats the theatre. But getting yourself down to see all of the wonderful shows on your to do list isn’t always as easy as it sounds. If we could go to the theatre as often as we would like, we absolutely would – but from booking the ticket, to making sure you get a good seat; and planning your evening in London; let’s just say it can become a rather costly affair. Not that we don’t think it’s worth it – it so is. But how do you fancy having a little change and going to your local cinema to see a live broadcast of a Theatre show on the big screen?
Now this isn’t exactly a new thing – but there are so many shows from a number of theatres coming up soon that we are dying to see, and we thought this unique experience was worth telling you a little more about…
National Theatre Live are just one of the select theatres that dedicate themselves to broadcast the best of British theatre live from the London stage to cinemas all across the UK and even around the world. Their past broadcasts include Danny Boyle’s Frankenstein with Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller, War Horse and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.

How do they do it? You’ll be sure to get the best seat in the house as the cameras are carefully positioned to give cinema-goers the best possible experience and view of each production, live, alongside the audience. Sounds fantastic to us.
So what’s on? You can visit the National Theatre Live website to check all of their latest shows and where you can go and see them. There are also shows that are coming up at Vue cinemas around the UK that are hosting live showings from a number of theatres including RSC Theatre, ROH Live, as well as NT Live; which include Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, Jane Eyre, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, and more.
We don’t know about you but the Branagh Theatre Live: Romeo and Juliet is firmly on our wishlists for June. Go on, book your tickets now.
