Murray might be out of the Wimbledon running this year, but it’s not all been dismal viewing on the courts this week. In fact we’ve spotted a serious trend this week that we’re hopping straight on board with. White broderie anglaise, glossy waves and some seriously statement shades. The Duchess of Cambridge, Kim Sears and Keira Knightley have all been spotted sporting the same combination, and those are fashion authorities that we’re happy to take note from. So here’s our guide to getting the look.

THE DRESS

The dresses.
The dress.

Alice + Olivia Vinni embroidered mini dress (£385.00), Topshop Saige cotton dress by Little White Lies (£110.00), Asos Native rose dress in cut work (£58.00).

There’s a huge amount of choice out there when it comes to white broderie anglaise, lace and crochet dresses but above are some of our favourites. When it comes to the cut, err on the side of the less clingy. A synched in waist will keep things light and feminine, whilst a crochet or lace hem is infinitely flattering on the pins!

THE HAIR

The hair.
The hair.

Mark Hill Sexy Waves & Curls Pro-Magic Wand (£54.99).

When it comes to your hair and product, less is more. Opt for a cleansing and shine boosting shampoo and conditioner. Try TIGI Bed Head Urban Antidotes Re-Energizing range (from £11.50), we take a look at it here.

Now glossy waves just happens to be my forte. Although sadly unlike the Kates, Kims and Keiras of this world I don’t have a smiling hair stylist on hand to primp and preen me to my heart’s content. (One day maybe…?). Nevertheless it’s my go-to look, so here’s how I do it…

Blow dry or leave to dry naturally. If blow-drying make sure to give hair a blast of cold air at the end to close cuticles and give it a serious shine boost. Then take large sections of hair and wrap it around a medium-barrelled curling wand (I use the Mark Hill one pictured above). Curl back away from your face in the same direction that you’d pop in rollers, release from the wand and cup in your hand a little, until it cools down.

This will set the curl. Leave it to settle on your shoulders for as long as it takes to properly cool all the way through, then brush out gently. The result? Glossy waves that will make you look like you’ve stepped out of the salon fresh from an expert blow-dry. But at zero cost and in minimal time! Smug? Oh just a little.

THE SHADES

To finish this look off you’re going to need some darned glam shades. We’re talking a serious case of the Jackie O’s. They’ll lift the outfit from pretty to show-stopping. Keira Knightley knew how to rock it when she paired her Valentino resort 2014 collection dress with those black bug-eyes, whilst hand-in-hand with Kaxons husband James Righton.

The shades.
The shades.

Prada round frame acetate sunglasses (£215.00), Asos cat eye sunglasses (£12.00), Marks & Spencer quilted diamante arms sunglasses (£15.00).

It’s a classic style but that doesn’t stop it from benefitting from brand new versions season upon season. Above are our favourites for this summer season.

So there you have it! Shop, style and work it. Now all that’s needed is a front row in the Royal Box at Wimbledon…we can’t give you as much help on that one. Oh well, Nadal’s out any way. Less biceps to see.
