As British tennis champion Laura Robson stepped onto the freshly cut Wimbledon grass today she unveiled Stella McCartney’s debut tennis collection for adidas.
Entitled The Barricade collection, the line – which will also be worn during the tournament by tennis aces Caroline Wozniacki and Maria Kirilenko – combines McCartney’s intuitive sportswear aesthetic (as showcased at the London Olympics last year) with adidas’ high-tech sporting prowess. The result? A line of tennis wear that is as practical on the court as it is lovely-to-look-at off the court. McCartney explained, “Tennis is one of the sport disciplines that I design that can really house feminine styles with high performance. WE achieve this in our use of colour and cut as well as using all the latest technology. I am really proud to work with these incredible athletes to launch the collection.”
