I couldn’t resist it. A foundation that stays on 24 hours. I could sleep in it, wake up and still feel fine. I know that’s not meant to be a selling point so I will rephrase it. I could put it on in the morning and it would last until my evening skincare regime. I’d seen some of the reviews that All Hours had been receiving and they’d been hugely positive.
Plus I’m nostalgic about YSL foundation. It’s the first one I ever tried in my goth years it was the only one that offered flawless, pale alabaster foundation for that oh so special mortuary look that I favoured at that time. I recently interviewed Andrea Riseborough who said she felt uncomfortable in a spray tan. Riseborough in a spray tan left her the colour of ground almonds, still very very pale but she felt more comfortable in her mortuary white.
Sometimes I interview people and they stay with me and I become obsessed like who doesn’t have better pixie hair than Michelle Williams? Who doesn’t have better skin than Andrea Riseborough? I was on a quest. When I found All Hours Foundation in Ivory, I instantly fell in love. I love the texture. Matte, flawless, fully covering but not thick or tranny looking. And it really does stay on. It doesn’t bleed, it doesn’t crumble, it doesn’t dry the skin, it’s a perfect complexion 24/7. It comes in 22 shades so one’s going to be right for you and your face looks fresh with a soft focus finish. You look like a Terry O’Neill portrait from the late eighties. YSL says it’s because of the spherically shaped silicone resin. The formula is gentle. Oil free so it keeps the complexion shine free and sweat free. It doesn’t just minimise the appearance of pores, it takes them out.
There’s some science to it. It’s loaded with long wear resistant polymer, rich in pearlite which comes from volcanic rock and can absorb up to three times its weight in water so this foundation would last through non-stop activity, all day and all night. It also has skin conditioning complex with antioxidants that keep the skin protected and it has Kombuchka, a fermented black tea extract that gives you luminosity and an SPF 20.
In the All Hours range you can also get a concealer and a primer and a gorgeous compact featuring a first to the market, 3D elastic gel technology which means that the gel transforms into a creamy powder. Perfection.
All Hours Foundation £33.50, concealer £22.00, compact £40.00
