No longer solely the preserve of the far-flung holiday maker idly wandering Caribbean sands, nor the Downward-Dogging, raw-food eating holistic-lifestyle lover – coconut water has filtered through to the masses. That fresh, slightly sweet taste, the thirst-quenching crispness, oh and all the vitamin-packed nutrition (it’s packed full of magnesium, calcium, sodium, phosphorous and potassium), makes it the drink du jour.
And the recently launched Hong Kong-based brand, Jax Coco are offering a new sense of coconut-drinking cool. Taking advantage of the freshest, youngest fruits from the Far East, the company then microfilter and flash heat the juice, in a process that sterilises the product whilst retaining as much of the natural goodness, nutrition and taste.
The super-sleek frosted glass bottle, designed by Stella McCartney’s beau Alasdhair Willis, sets it apart from other coconut-drink brands on the market, as does the natural, not-too-sweet flavour.
Look out for limited edition designed bottles and additional flavoured water versions, but for the time-being, rehydrate at Harvey Nichols, with 250ml and 750ml bottles priced at £11.70 for a pack of 6. Harveynichols.com
