Have you ever had a favourite shade of lippy or nail polish that’s been discontinued and literally feels as if the world has ended? We’ve all been there…
We have some beauty news that may just reunite you with one of your most cherished nail polish colours – as essie are celebrating 35 years of fabulous nails – and in true party style they are re-launching some of their most loved first shades.

The story behind these shades are pretty cool – it all started in 1981 where essie’s founder, Essie Weingarten travelled to sell the first collection of nail polishes to the glamorous showgirls working in Las Vegas. The Essie we all know and love was born among true glitz and glam; and now the legendary archive has been reopened to us 35 years on.
The six retro shades are truly lavish, featuring pearls, sheers, frosted and iridescent effects, to give you the perfect nails for a sparkling night out.
Here are the six shades to get your hands on:
Birthday Suit; the sixth shade ever created becomes one of the sixth shades to return in the retro revival range; this is a cheeky delicate nude that goes with any day or any outfit.
Sequin Sash; a sheer glittery bronze shade with silver flecks in.
Cabana Boy; an ultra-cool pearly white to give a bright flash from your talons.
Starry Starry Night; the casino royale of essie glitters – a highly coveted twinkling midnight blue.
Bikini with a Martini; a frosted iridescent pink for the girl in you, guaranteed to shake things up.
Life of the Party; a glamorous pinot noir pearl that will be sure to dazzle.
