A GIRL’S GUIDE TO THE WORLD CUP 2014

June 12, 2014

A Girl's Guide To The World Cup 2014.
A Girl’s Guide To The World Cup 2014.

With the 2014 World Cup starting Thursday 12 June, every girl needs a guide to the sporting event of the season. A girl’s got to have the perfect viewing spot (preferably free of beer-soaked supporters), a brush-up on some quick World Cup facts, and of course, a list of the Top Ten World Cup…shall we say…’must-see-players’.

Now the viewing spot? Benefit Cosmetics have that covered would you believe. They are opening a pop-up pub, Gabbi’s Head (named after their mascot), in Covent Garden to celebrate the globally celebrated tournament. With the help of Sky Sports News presenter, Kristy Gallacher, the pub will host a variety of entertainment and beauty events as well as showing all the major games. Guests to the pop-up pub can enjoy makeovers from the Benefit beauty artists on site and indulge in extra primping sessions with tanning, waxing, lash and brow grooming treatments on offer.

Instead of sticky, overcrowded venues filled with men folk that are a tad more vocally involved in the game than you, enjoy watching the 2014 World Cup with your girlfriends, a cocktail and a makeover. Sounds too good to be true? We promise it’s real!

So now your venue’s sorted it’s time to brush up on those essential World Cup facts…

Quick Facts:

1) 32 teams are participating in the World Cup.

2) The World Cup will take place across 12 cities in Brazil: Belo Horizonte, Brasilia, Cuiaba, Curitiba, Fortaleza, Manaus, Natal, Porto Alegre, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, Sao Paulo.

3) The World Cup will take place between June 12, 2014-July13, 2014, lasting exactly one month and one day to complete all 64 matches.

4) Brazil’s 2014 World Cup mascot is an armadillo named “Fuleco” who rolls up into a football.

5) Brazil, the host nation, is favoured to win with Germany coming in second according to oddschecker.com.

And then of course we need to introduce you to the players. We’ve narrowed them down to the top ten ‘must-see’ guys. Now this is obviously based purely on their ball skills. And their athleticism. And maybe their hair? Oh and their eyes. And other variables. It’s a meticulously researched list, so take note.
