Last night saw the season premiere of the 5th series of Mad Men and whilst the episode opened with burgeoning racial issues, thanks to the sexy rendition of the 1960s song, Zou Bisou Bisou, performed by Don Draper’s new wife Megan for his 40th birthday the episode is fast becoming known as “the Zoo Bee Zoo Bee Zoo one”.
The original version was recorded in 1960 by British-born 16-year-old, Gillian Hills, who was discovered at 14 and billed to be ‘the new Brigitte Bardot’ and was later covered by Sophia Loren in the 60s romantic comedy The Millionairess.

Roughly translated as Oh Kiss kiss – My God, they are sweet – Oh Kiss kiss – the sound of kisses – Oh Kiss kiss – That means, I confess – But yes, I love only you! we’re under no illusion that it sounds far better in its native French! The song, which we can’t seem to get out of our heads has just been released by Lionsgate, the production company for Mad Men, as a single on iTunes, with a special limited edition vinyl to be sold through the “Mad Men” website.
