My jaw dropped as we walked into the Markus Luper presentation on Saturday afternoon. Located on the 10th floor of the Blue Fin building, the all-white room was decorated with beautiful models and an even more beautiful collection of AW17 Womenswear. The sun was unusually bright which only did good things for the collection, as one wall was completely windows.
With music and a crowd that was just the right volume, not too loud like some shows, where our attention is only pulled away by the busyness, all attention was on the presentation. Though there were some quick glances being exchanged, eyeing one another’s outfits. See and be seen, right?
The models stood in two rows, posing unusually still, inviting us to take in the navy, black, and cream ensembles. Lighter blues with metallic hues livened up the collection. While the outfits seemed to focus on the importance of tailoring, at least regarding the pantsuits and frocks, the outerwear and accessories were oversized and statement worthy.
Other accessories included large earrings and belts that highlighted the models’ waists and seemed to tie, if you will, the look together. Boots and loafers were worn by the models. While all accessories were all gorgeous, the thing that specifically caught my eye was the detail in the patterns on some of the outfits. Embellished floral prints decorated some of the pieces and I couldn’t help but fall in love.
As if I needed convincing to like the collection any more, the designer, Markus Luper himself, was walking around explaining to people his inspirations and explaining why he chose to pair sunglasses with a certain outfit, or what affect the flowers on the sleeve of a big coat had over the whole outfit, it was very pleasing to see someone so passionate about their work. Safe to say, this was my favorite events that I attended at London Fashion Week.
