In the wake of their son Caleb’s death in action in Afghanistan, the Peterson family receives an unexpected visitor who offers some comfort during their grieving. David, a friend of Caleb’s from the army, shows up at the Peterson’s house in order to fulfill a promise he made to his fallen comrade – protect Caleb’s mother and siblings, at any cost. David soon befriends the family, but a series of mysterious events makes the Peterson’s questions whether the guest they welcomed into their home really is who he claims to be.
