The Coach SS15 collection hit the runway at New York Fashion Week, a huge mish-mash of 60s and 70s influences. Super-flared jeans were paired with rigidly-silhouetted handbags, cutesy tailored jackets and winged sunglasses.
The most talked-of items were the huge shaggy fur coats and loose knit fair isle knitwear.
Footwear was clumpy, skirts were mini and the necklaces were choker. Even the hairstyles merged the two decades, the deep side partings, reminiscent of those that kicked off a 60s beehive do flowed into loose and roughed-up 70s tendrils.
The backdrop of the show was a dusky, dusty American highway, that made the models look like carefree hitchhikers. Their attitude matched the don’t-care clothing that gave off a seriously hedonistic and youthful vibe. Do we like this collection? We’re pretty captivated.
