Starring Dev Patel as a 25 year-old shipping clerk and self-taught genius Srinavasa Ramanujan, whose obsession and solitary study of mathematics led to his failure out of college in colonial India circa 1913. Enter Trinity College, Cambridge, and it’s prominent mathematics professor G.H. Hardy, played by Jeremy Irons. After reading a letter sent from Srinavasa, G.H. Hardy recognizes the young man’s raw talent and takes Srinavasa under his wing to explore his ideas. Brilliantly tense, The Man Who Knew Infinity depicts the struggle of student and mentor, genius versus society, and the friendship that changed mathematics.
